Is Radical the New Mainstream?

What Just Happened in Nevada? U.S. Senator Sharon Who?

Nevada is the Canary in the Coal Mine.

I TOLD YOU SO! The question on national political experts minds Wednesday morning is, “Sharon who?” Sharon Angle was the winner of the Republican U.S. Senate primary in Nevada. Few on the national scene saw this coming. But I did. As a Nevada Reagan Libertarian, Tea Party activist, and national political commentator, I’ve said for months that in a “Tea Party year” anything is possible- including the election of a political outsider like Sharon Angle.

When the public is angry and wants blood- all bets are off. Ask Utah Senator Bennett and Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter. Ask the voters of Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey, who all participated in big wins for maverick underdog candidates in the past year. Ask Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons, the first sitting governor ever defeated in a primary in Nevada history (also last night). Ask Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln who barely escaped with her life on Tuesday, only to face sure defeat in the general election in November. Ask the Lt. Governor of South Carolina, who got 17% of the vote against an unknown female candidate (Nikki Haley) endorsed by Sarah Palin. The new mantra is V.E.T.O.- Vote Everyone of Them Out!

In Sharon Angle’s case, the Tea Party movement gets 100% of the credit. Angle was languishing in 3rd place in her U.S. Senate race until she received the endorsement of the Tea Party Express and The Club for Growth. After that, she moved up the polls like a rocket. She blew by the GOP establishment candidate Sue Lowden. Coming from 20+ points down, Angle won going away. This was not a year to be the establishment candidate- even if you are an ex-beauty queen , TV newscaster, and casino owner.

Sharon Angle is a true fiscal conservative, limited government, anti-tax Tea Party candidate. The Wall Street Journal just days ago described her views as “outside the mainstream.” Well I have news for the Wall Street Journal- radical is the new mainstream. The Journal described her radical positions in the past as “abolishing the federal tax code, privatizing Social Security for younger Americans, and eliminating the Education Department.” I have a funny feeling the mainstream media just doesn’t get it- yes, those views used to be out of the mainstream. But not this year, not when you’re running against the U.S. Senate Majority Leader who carries the water for the most socialist President in American political history. In this year, in this race, those views are just fine.

National studies show those views to be more in the mainstream than big government candidates. Most Americans distrust government; want it made smaller; see big government as the biggest threat to their freedom; want government spending cut dramatically; and feel over-taxed. That’s precisely why the Tea Party movement has flourished against-all-odds. The Silent Majority feels unrepresented and ripped off by “business-as-usual” and mainstream politicians. An awful lot of taxpayers and voters are thinking out of the box. They’re thinking that perhaps it’s time to think “out of the mainstream.”

Nevada is the canary in the coalmine. I predict all over this country the media will be stunned by this “new world order.” Conservative and Libertarian are back in vogue; “traditional” and “establishment” are dirty words; and radical is the new mainstream. The Reids (Harry and his son Rory) are in the wrong place, at the wrong time. All you have to do is “read the tea leaves” to know that. In this new world order, Sharon Angle may be just what the doctor ordered.

The Prop 14 Disaster: The End of Free Speech, Independence, Choice and Dissent

Is Schwarzenegger A Fool or a Traitor to Tea Parties and Limited Government/Fiscally Conservative Causes?

This coming Tuesday June 8th, California voters will be voting on Proposition 14, aka “Top Two.” It is a disaster for anyone interested in free speech, choice and dissent. As often happens in politics, Prop 14 is the exact opposite of what it appears to be. The proponents of Prop 14 claim it will eliminate the current party primary system in favor of an “open primary.” So instead of Republicans, Democrats and independents (third parties) each freely choosing their own candidates in a primary, then meeting on the November ballot to determine who will be elected to represent the people, with “Top Two” every candidate runs in a non-partisan free-for-all (aka “open primary”) and only the top two vote-getters appear on the November ballot.

Prop 14 supporters claim this new “Top Two” system would take away power from the 2 big parties because of the non-partisan “open primary” nature of the system. In reality Prop 14 eliminates choice on the ballot in November. Independent candidates and third parties (with less money to spend to reach voters) will literally cease to exist. Independent candidates (Libertarian, Conservative, Tea Party, Green, etc) could not survive the open primary system, thereby guaranteeing only candidates from the 2 major parties on the ballot each November. Do you want your free speech and choice violated or eliminated? If so, you’ll love Prop 14. But is this the American way?

National polls prove that more voters now call themselves “Independent” than at any time in modern political history. More voters call themselves “Independent” than either Republican or Democrat. More voters respect “the Tea Party” than either the Republican or Democrat parties. More voters desire a third party Presidential choice than at any time in modern history. Do all these poll results indicate that now is the time to eliminate choice? To eliminate dissent? You would think that now would be the time to expand choice and dissent. But that’s not what the backers of Prop 14 think. According to the backers of Prop 14, what you want is meaningless.

But the problem with Prop 14 actually goes much deeper. If you want to see smaller government, lower spending, and lower taxes, you’re plum out of luck with Prop 14. This deal was cut in the smoky backrooms of Sacramento to insure that the 2 major parties can operate in the future without dissent, opposition, or pesky “citizen politician” gadflies pointing out their corruption, waste, and fraud. Who is behind it? Prop 14 guarantees that the same corruption and cozy relationship between big unions, big corporations and big government will go on forever- but this time without even the hint of dissent, or the remote chance of an upset. Even “remote” isn’t good enough for these groups…they want zero chance that any independent candidate can ever upset their stranglehold on government and unchecked power over the people.

Want proof? Look no further than the 2 states that have already used Prop 14 political systems- Louisiana and Washington. Third parties have been silenced- they no longer have a reason to exist. Corruption runs wild- Louisiana has been the worst governed state for 35 years and counting. Incumbents literally NEVER lose in these states. If you want to guarantee career politicians can last a lifetime in office screwing the voters and taxpayers, then Prop 14 is for you.

But my final plea is to fiscal conservatives and Tea Party activists in California. You, my friends, are being targeted for extinction by big government proponents. Your Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has sold you down the river. He is either a fool or a traitor. Common sense tells anyone that Republicans will be badly damaged by Prop 14 in a deep blue liberal state like California. The non-biased and scholarly Center for Governmental Studies in Los Angeles now predicts that Democrats will most certainly gain the most from Prop 14. They predict that up to one third of Congressional and legislative districts in California will be reduced to 2 Democrats in the November elections by “Top Two.” The dissent being silenced forever will be Conservative and Tea Party dissent in a liberal big government state like California. If you are a California Republican, your own Governor Schwarzenegger has signed your death warrant. It isn’t just independents, but rather Republicans, conservatives, and Tea Parties who are the victims of Prop 14. Or did you think big unions, big corporations and big government proponents are friends of fiscal conservatives? This deal stinks to high heaven. Your only choice is to strongly and LOUDLY vote “NO on Prop 14.”

Welcome Tea Parties…Goodbye New York Times
Obama is the new Bush

Tea Party Tuesday: The Rebels & Peasants with Pitchforks are in Charge

By Wayne Allyn Root, 2008 Libertarian Vice Presidential Nominee

The New York Times doesn’t get it. They just don’t understand the Tea Party movement, or why it’s popular. I call it V.E.T.O. - Vote Everyone of Them Out. Last week the Tea Party movement added yet another scalp to their trophy case when Republican U.S. Senator Bob Bennett of Utah became the first sitting Senator to be denied re-nomination in 70 years. Add in 15-term Democrat Congressman Mollohan of West Virginia for good measure- yet another D.C. establishment defeat. Today will be another edition of V.E.T.O. – a bloodbath for establishment politicians. And once again the NY Times won’t get it.

Days ago, I predicted that at least 2 of the 3 establishment U.S. Senate candidates would be defeated today- with a good shot at all 3. Rand Paul will win in a landslide over the hand-picked GOP establishment candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky. Who would have believed it a year ago? Paul is a doctor with Tea Party views and no political background. His victory today will be the first true Tea Party victory in the U.S. Senate (Scott Brown afterall was a mirage from day one- a traditional moderate Republican who got Tea Party support, but wouldn’t understand a Tea Party if it hit him in the face).

Now reading the “tea leaves” indicates that incumbent Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter is a goner too. How do I know? Obama refused to campaign with him in the final days of his U.S. Senate campaign in Pennsylvania. So did his good buddy Vice President Joe Biden, who orchestrated Specters switch from GOP to Democrat. Biden actually spoke in Pennsylvania yesterday, but avoided Specter like the plague. This is a sign in politics that funeral plans are being made, while the body is still warm. So much for the bonds of friendship in politics. Friendship is as deep as your latest poll numbers. As the saying goes, “If you want a friend in D.C., get a dog.”

But the more telling incident of the day was the comment made by Democrat Governor Ed Rendell. When asked about Obama not campaigning for Specter, the loyal Democrat attack dog Rendell actually said out loud that Obama campaigning in Pennsylvania for Specter would have been a mixed bag anyway- because of Obama’s unpopularity among blue collar Democrats. Wow. Who would have believed that comment only 16 months ago when Obama was being inaugurated as the most popular President since JFK? In 16 months Obama has turned from hero to toxic waste. Talk about irony…the Tea Party movement is now seen as a savior by mainstream voters, while Obama is being avoided like the plague by his OWN candidates. Obama is the new Bush.

How the worm has turned. Perhaps there is yet hope for America. People get it. Rand Paul’s victory and Specter’s sure defeat make the score 2-0 against the establishment. Add in Bennett and Mollohan. 4-0. Add in Governor races in New Jersey and Virginia last fall. 6-0. Or if you’re scoring for Obama 0-6. That leaves Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas. If she is forced into a June runoff in today’s primary, that is the equivalent of a political earthquake. But no matter- Lincoln is merely fighting it out for the right to be pummeled by the GOP Senate candidate in November.

Indeed. The worm has turned. The Tea Parties have become important in the political process. The rebels and peasants with the pitchforks are in charge. Obama is reviled. And the New York Times is clueless, powerless and irrelevant. What a difference 16 months makes in politics.

The Real Obama Economic Plan: Overwhelming the System to Destroy Capitalism and Freedom.

It’s time to stop mincing words. Obama is not a fool. He is not incompetent. He is not a madman. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis, and social chaos- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within. But the bonus is brilliant…as he destroys and taxes to death business owners, he also cripples his political opposition.

Rahm Emanuel cynically said, “You never want a crisis to go to waste.” It is now becoming clear that the crisis he was referring to is Obama’s Presidency. As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Obama’s Columbia University. In 1966, they outlined a plan to socialize America by OVERWHELMING the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they’re alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to overwhelm the system, wreck the U.S. economy, damage or destroy the free market, in order to turn the U.S. into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival.

*Universal healthcare. The healthcare bill had very little to do with healthcare. It had everything to do with adding millions of new union and government employees (sixteen thousand new IRS agents) feeding at the public trough. Obama doesn’t care that giving free healthcare to 30 million Americans will add TRILLIONS to the national debt. Or that not one new doctor was added to the system, thereby causing a healthcare crisis. What he does care about is that it overwhelms the system and cements the dependence and loyalty of those 30 million voters to Obama and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression? Why now? Why the rush? Why risk destroying the economy on a reckless, unproven scheme? There is only one answer -- OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Cap and trade. Like healthcare legislation having nothing to do with healthcare, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with overwhelming the system, redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to unions and Obama’s biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE who owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything and anything Obama wants. They will kick back hundreds of millions in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama “spread the wealth around.” Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless tax and spending bill in the middle of a depression? Why now? Why the rush? Why risk destroying the economy on a reckless, unproven scheme? There is only one answer -- OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Certainly not the Puerto Ricans, who have repeatedly voted against it, and certainly not American taxpayers. Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? But this has been Obama’s plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat Senators, five Democrat Congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would support this reckless scheme in the middle of a depression? Why now? Why the rush? There is only one answer -- OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free healthcare alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But hey...it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters- who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security. Who but a socialist revolutionary would support this in the middle of a depression? Why now? Why the rush? There is only one answer -- OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Card check. This disastrous bill creates more union employees EVERYWHERE- all of them Democratic voters. More union employees mean more union dues and hundreds of millions of new dollars to spend on campaign contributions to Democrats. Who cares that it will damage the capitalist system? Who but a socialist revolutionary would support this scheme in the middle of a depression? Why now? Why the rush? There is only one answer-- OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Stimulus & Bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions- including billions of dollars to save the jobs of government employees across the country, and billions more to hire new government employees. It went to save GM and Chrysler, so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1,000,000 in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby saving their union dues to teachers unions). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. And their union dues will be forwarded directly to Obama and Democrat politicians. All while the private sector is melting down. Pretty soon a government job will be the only game in town. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means. OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Spend trillions on bailouts. Who needs welfare mothers, when you can addict America’s largest companies on welfare? These companies are now beholden to Democrat politicians and therefore powerless to criticize anything Obama does. The trillions to GM, Chrysler, AIG will never be paid back. But, that’s no concern to a socialist revolutionary who wants to destroy capitalism, control business, and OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

*Raise taxes ONLY on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on 10% of the population, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing (except vote for Obama). Why? Because such a plan destroys the group that contributes the most money to fiscally conservative politicians and causes. Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to “starve the beast” (by cutting off funds for government). Obama wants to starve his political opposition by taxing them to death. OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM.

With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by OVERWHELMING THE SYSTEM.

My God...Add it up and you’ve got the perfect Marxist scheme.

Only one thing stands in their way – you and me, the American taxpayers. If we want to save the greatest country and economic system in world history, we had better get busy. We had better fight back hard. Our children and grandchildren’s futures are at stake. And please don't assume the GOP is the answer. They had their chance. Bush spent irresponsibly; Bush never vetoed a single spending bill; Bush supported bailouts, earmarks and stimulus; Bush was responsible for the Medicare expansion; Bush spent a trillion dollars on two never-ending wars; Bush was the disaster that opened the door for Obama.

The answer is to support true fiscal conservatives who understand that national debt is the real global threat to our survival. Libertarians who truly support economic freedom are the real Tea Party candidates who want to truly change "business as usual" in Washington D.C. Libertarians don’t just talk the talk- we walk the walk. On November 2nd let's throw every incumbent in Congress out (with a few exceptions like Ron Paul)...and if the new class let's us down...let's throw them all out again in 2012. Eventually they'll get the message- the citizens are in charge.
