I was the first political commentator in the country to predict a GOP landslide in today’s Congressional elections. I made the prediction at Fox News http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2014/10/09/happy-anniversary-obamacare-youre-gift-that-keeps-on-giving

and right here at Blaze in early October. http://www.theblaze.com/contributions/massive-historic-gop-landslide-is-coming/

Polls now confirm a GOP wave emerging http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/gop-surge-midterms-iowa/2014/11/03/id/604823/

and even Democrat pollsters are now predicting a devastating loss for Obama and his policies.

The million dollar question is “why?”

In my previous commentaries I explained that the root of Obama’s election day debacle were the twin disasters of Obamacare and Ebola. Millions of Americans have either seen their health insurance cancelled, or gotten dramatic premium price increases. These are the angry, intense, motivated voters of the 2014 midterm elections. Obamacare is no longer a theory. It has affected millions of middle class Americans in a negative way.

Then there’s Ebola. Obama’s response to this potential deadly pandemic has ranged from inept and incompetent, to downright dangerous. It’s clear this president is not keeping our children safe at night.

Now throw in our open Southern border, Obama’s failure to forsee the rise of ISIS, his lack of a coherent strategy to fight ISIS and this jobless economy and anyone but a Washington DC insider can clearly see a Democratic Party disaster in today’s election.

But the reality is that elections aren’t won or lost just based on issues. Elections are won based on “the ground game.” It’s not who supports a candidate or party that matters…it’s who brings the most voters to the polls. Back in 2012 Obama put together the most sophisticated “ground game” to get out the Democratic vote in the history of American politics.

The GOP failed miserably at the same “ground game.” The GOP actually had no ground game. Their new “get out the vote” system (named ORCA) bombed on the morning of the national election- meaning the GOP never turned out a single vote. http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/11/meet-orca-romneys-stcentury-turnout-program-that-wasnt-149186.html

The failure of the GOP vote tracking system changed the outcome of the entire presidential election. Having no idea if your most loyal voters have gone to the polls or not, is like flying a plane blind.

Fast forward to today. Three things have changed- all in favor of the GOP. These are the real reasons for today’s GOP landslide:

*First, the GOP is now for the first time effectively competing with the Obama machine in the “ground game.” The GOP turn out the vote machine is so effective this time around that the GOP leads across the country in early voting in places where Republicans often lose by large percentages. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/in-a-first-republicans-claim-early-vote-lead-in-iowa/article/2555159

This is very good news. As a matter of fact it has never happened before.

*Second, there are Voter ID laws in place in fifteen states where none existed in 2012. http://www.brennancenter.org/analysis/state-voting-2014

Not only are Democrats great at getting out the vote, they are even better at getting out fraudulent voters. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/10/31/NC-Board-of-Elections-Investigating-Allegations-of-Campaign-Worker-Assisting-Illegal-Immigrant-to-Vote Voter ID prevents election fraud. That is very bad news for Obama and his allies.

*Third, there is a “backstop” in place if the GOP fails to win the six U.S. Senate seats it needs today. Because of tight races there could be runoffs in Louisiana and Georgia (if the winning GOP candidate doesn’t reach the 50% threshold). But Obama and the Democrats have a big problem in these runoffs. Obama pushed back the date for open enrollment in Obamacare from October 15th to November 15th just to avoid damaging Democratic candidates in today’s election. http://dailycaller.com/2014/10/30/poll-americans-think-obama-admins-playing-politics-by-delaying-obamacare-sign-ups-until-after-election

But Obama’s plan backfired. Because of this cynical delay, millions of Americans will be either getting cancellation notices or seeing massive price increases for the first time in the days after the election. But that “sticker shock” will guarantee the voters of Georgia and Louisiana will vote overwhelmingly Republican in December or January runoffs. This is “the GOP backstop.”

Ironically Obama’s signature (and only) achievement of his six years as President will guarantee a GOP takeover of the U.S. Senate.

Tonight will usher in a dramatic rebuke to President Obama and a dramatic change in political power in Washington DC. The question is what will the GOP do with it?

Will they repeal Obamacare in order to save the economy from a meltdown? Will they cut government spending to avoid a Greece-like debt crisis? Will they audit the Fed? Will they conduct criminal hearings and punish those involved in the outrageous IRS scandal? Will they dramatically lower the highest corporate tax rates in the world, thereby bringing jobs back to America? Will they put a stop to NSA snooping on the communications of ordinary Americans? Will they seal the border? Will they force Obama top finally ban flights from the Ebola Zone and quarantine travelers from Ebola countries? Will they stop Obama from ordering a “blanket amnesty” for millions of illegal immigrants? Will they force Obama to develop a gameplan to defeat ISIS?

The answers to these questions will determine the future of American politics. The GOP has been handed “the golden ticket.” They now have that rare second chance in politics. The ball is in their court. They can ensure that Barack Obama has singlehandedly destroyed the Democratic Party for a generation. But only if the GOP is bold enough to carry out the agenda above, and fight Obama’s continued destruction of America with passion, fire and brimstone. If the GOP is too cowardly to pursue the agenda above, or too fearful of how the mainstream media will react, then the GOP landslide of 2014 is nothing more than a fluke and “last gasp” amidst a long term Democratic ascendency.
