Former Libertarian Vice Presidential Nominee, Capitalist Evangelist, and National Media Personality Wayne Allyn Root Endorses Mitt Romney and Rejoins the GOP
Wayne Root said today, “I’m announcing the most important decision of my political career. I am stepping down from my roles in the Libertarian Party, Libertarian National Committee, and as Chairman of the Libertarian National Campaign Committee (LNCC), to rejoin the Republican Party and most importantly, to endorse Mitt Romney and help elect Mitt as President of the United States.”
Root made it clear he will always be a Libertarian. “I’m a Lifetime Libertarian Party member and will always call myself a REAGAN Libertarian and Libertarian conservative. Just like Congressman Ron Paul and U.S. Senator Rand Paul- Libertarians who call themselves Republicans, I have decided to take my Libertarian beliefs and the fight for smaller government to the Republican Party and work within a party I believe can elect enough good people to change the direction of this country and save my children’s future. I hope to make a personal difference by one day representing Nevada and joining Jim DeMint, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee in the U.S. Senate Republican Tea Party Caucus.”
Root continued, “This election is NOT about Libertarian versus non-Libertarian. It’s about capitalism versus big government progressivism and Big Brother socialism. Mitt Romney is a capitalist businessman, not a career politician. Above all else, I too am a capitalist businessman and have a half dozen successful careers- all based on capitalism, free markets, and the dynamic U.S. economy. But this economy under President Obama is dying. It is being smothered by government.”
“Mitt Romney believes in the same things I do- keeping businesses free from government intrusion, allowing small business owners to keep more of their own money, and rewarding instead of punishing investors, innovators, and job creators. Mitt Romney understands, as President Calvin Coolidge once said, ‘The business of America is business.’ ”
Root further listed many of the obstacles American business is facing. “I see what’s happening to the economy. A 5 year old can’t run a lemonade stand anymore in Obama’s America without the proper business license. You can‘t build on your own land without the EPA demanding $100,000 fines. SWAT teams raid guitar manufacturers because it’s possible they imported the wrong wood. Obama’s bureaucracy blocks private companies from moving to non union states. Obama spends $25 billion of taxpayer money to “save” automakers, but the money actually goes to save union pensions, while allowing non union workers to lose their pensions. Soon if Obama is re-elected, you won’t be able to afford to fill up your tank, or pay for your doubled or tripled electric bills. That’s what happens when you ban oil drilling, regulate coal out of existence, and install cap and trade to take control over manufacturing. This is all happening in Obama’s America.”
Root sees one solution. “Mitt Romney understands that Obama’s rhetoric, constant threats, demonization of businessmen and women, IRS intimidation, the massive new debt created by Obamacare, barrage of tax increases, and 60,000 new rules and regulations have ground the U.S. economy to a halt. Mitt is a turnaround specialist of not only businesses, but the Olympics. That is exactly what America needs right now. The U.S. economy is, for all intents and purposes, a very large and diverse failing company, in desperate need of a turnaround.”
Root sees Romney’s business background as unique. “What America needs at this moment in history is a job creator with major CEO experience…with specific business turnaround experience…an understanding of economics… a creative and innovative business mind…and a track record of extraordinary success…to lead this country back from the edge of the fiscal cliff. That person is Mitt Romney. If he could pull off miracles with Staples (and dozens of companies like it)…and the 2002 Olympics (which he saved from a bankruptcy similar to the situation America faces now)…Mitt can turn this Obama bust into the Romney boom economy.”
Root sees the issue as survival. “The sad reality is that defeating Barack Obama is necessary to save the U.S. economy. We will not survive 4 more years of Obama as President and CEO of this economy. The economy is in free-fall here on Main Street. Small business owners- like me- are seeing our entire life’s work melting away. The legacy we built for our children is being destroyed. Our assets are disappearing at a record pace. We are frightened for our family’s and country’s future.”
Root says it’s time for unity. “It is time to put our differences aside. It’s time for Libertarians, Ron Paul supporters, Tea Partiers, conservatives, Republicans, small business owners, homeowners, investors, Christians, Jews, Israel supporters…
All of us need to join together in one big tent to support Mitt Romney.
As Clint Eastwood said, ‘We own this nation.’ It’s time to take it back. Our businesses and jobs depend on it. The future of America and our children depends on it. Their future quality of life is hanging in the balance.”
Root sees Romney as a new Ronald Reagan for our time. “We desperately need the common sense of a Reagan again. Reagan’s policies turned a Jimmy Carter economic disaster (just like Obama’s) into the greatest and longest economic boom in world history, leading to the creation of over 45 million net jobs, over $60 trillion in private sector asset creation, the greatest increase in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in American history, and the greatest peacetime economic expansion ever. Reagan’s Great Bull Market created more wealth for America’s families than any boom in U.S. history. Mitt Romney is our Reagan- with an exceptional added benefit. Mitt is also one of the most successful businessmen and turnaround experts in America. Mitt is the right man, with the right skills, for the economic crisis America faces right now.
Root believes this is the last stand to save capitalism and our country. “Our backs are up against the wall. Mitt is our last hope. Defeating Obama is simply more important than party loyalty, or worrying about whether our candidate is perfect, or whether we agree on every issue. The only issue that matters now is the survival of our economy, our country, and the American Dream. This fight is for our children’s future. For the quality of life of my four beautiful children- including my 4 and 8 year olds…for my future grandchildren. Under Obama, the American Dream is dying. Capitalism is being extinguished. The Constitution is being shredded. I urge all Libertarians, conservatives, American patriots to join me in supporting and electing Mitt Romney. As President of the United States.”
